Resumes, Cover letters and Interviewing Skills
Create an account to create and post your resume to submit to employers. Also, explore resources to help you craft your resume. Individualized appointments for resume reviews are also available. Call Career Services at 417-865-2815 to schedule an appointment.
Create a cover letter using the same heading from your resume (with your contact information). Then, use standard business format (date, address block for the recipient, greeting, no indentions, closing, etc.). The content of your cover letter should focus on three main areas.
First paragraph: Indicate why you are writing. Mention the specific position – or type of position that interests you.
Second or Third paragraphs: Indicate why you would be a good candidate for the position. Mention some of your skills, experience, education, or knowledge that is relevant. Also, talk about your interest in the specific organization and why you would be a good fit.
Final paragraph: Indicate when and how you might follow up, and otherwise close the letter.
