Evangel University seeks applications from and nominations for the role of Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Evangel University is a comprehensive Christian university committed to excellence in educating and equipping students to become Spirit-empowered servants of God who impact the church and society globally. Located in Springfield, Missouri, the beautiful campus is housed on more than 80 acres. Over 2600 students are enrolled in more than 100 academic programs, including graduate and degree completion.
Evangel University is in the first year of consolidation as an institution comprised of Evangel, Central Bible College, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, representing 190 years of rich history and legacy. The consolidated Evangel University is the first comprehensive University of the Assemblies of God’s offering degrees from the baccalaureate through doctoral levels. As a consolidated university there is the potential to be much more than was possible as three separate institutions.
As the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of the University, the Provost/VPAA provides vision and leadership for all academic services and programs of the University, all graduate and professional studies programs, Institutional Research, the Registrar’s Office, the Library, and Athletics. The Provost reports to the President, is a member of the President’s Cabinet, and works collaboratively with the other Vice Presidents and the President of the Seminary. The CAO ensures compliance with Higher Learning Commission standards for academic programs and also oversees the licensure and accreditation of other professional accreditation agencies.
This position requires an earned doctorate in a recognized academic field from an accredited institution with demonstrated successful academic administrative and teaching experience in higher education. In addition, a deep appreciation of and commitment to Christian higher education with a Pentecostal heritage and within a community of scholarship intentionally striving to integrate academic, spiritual, and personal growth is required. The successful candidate will have a personal record of scholarship and service that demonstrates the integration of faith and learning.
