On Saturday, October 22nd, over 160 EU students, faculty and staff members volunteered their time and effort for Make A Difference Day throughout Springfield, Missouri.
A total of 156 students, 2 faculty members and 5 staff members volunteered from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at various agencies in Springfield, including, the American Red Cross, the Regional Girls Shelter, Boys and Girls Town, the Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, the Pregnancy Care Center, the Center for the Blind, Ozarks Food Harvest and the Humane Society.
From planting trees to cleaning out attics, putting together and washing cots to repainting furniture, representatives of Evangel worked hard to “make a difference” and certainly had an impact on all of the organizations involved as well as the people those organizations serve.
“I am very pleased and excited that we had such a great turnout on Saturday,” Evangel’s Make A Difference Day Coordinator Donna Trower said. “This was the largest number of volunteers that we’ve had for Make a Difference Day, and I am thankful that Evangel students have an awareness of the needs of others and the compassion to serve others.”
The event was sponsored by LifeWorks: The Center for Leadership and Life Calling, CROSSwalk student ministries, Evangel Student Senate, the Evangel Activities Board, and the Social Work Program.
