Thursday Homecoming 2012 events

November 813, 2012 |

Homecoming 2012 kicked off on Thursday, October 11, with a Chapel service featuring guest speakers Ron and Monique (McDowell) Harris, both 1992 graduates who received the 2012 Alumni Association President’s Award. The service also featured an alumni-led praise and worship band. The Alumni Board of Director’s luncheon and meeting was also held on Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon, a dedication ceremony was held in Riggs Hall honoring Dr. Grant Wacker, one of the foremost historians of American religion, who donated his vast research collection on Pentecostal history to the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center. Dr. Wacker is the grandson of the Rev. Ralph Riggs, for whom Riggs Hall is named. Riggs, a former general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, is credited with the foundation of Evangel University. Read more about this significant donation.

On Thursday evening, the EU’s Got Talent semifinals and the President’s Club Dinner rounded out the Homecoming festivities for the day.
