SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Debra Ann Davenport Yonke, associate professor of education, has been published in the fall 2011 Journal of Research in Education. The article is titled “Preservice Teacher Beliefs about Retention: How Do They Know What They Don’t Know?”

“This was a collaborative research effort with the University of Wyoming and Evangel in which we surveyed our pre-service teachers in regards to their perceptions of grade-level retention,” Yonke said.

Co-authors on the project included the following: Bret G. Range, University of Wyoming, and Suzanne Young, University of Wyoming. “Both Dr. Range and I have retention as the focus of our doctoral work,” Yonke said.

Yonke joined the Evangel staff in 2009. She holds an Ed.D. (ABD) from Lindenwood University; a specialist degree in instructional leadership from Lindenwood University; an M.S. in elementary education from Missouri State University; and a B.A. in elementary and early childhood education from Evangel University.
