SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Laura Gummerman, admissions counselor at Evangel University, recently received the Stanley Horton Award for Best Thesis from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
Gummerman’s thesis was titled Forgive and Forget? A Biblical Exposition of What it Means to Forgive.
The final paper explored whether or not reconciliation is a prerequisite of forgiveness and examined how the two concepts are typically understood both theologically and as they relate to the behavioral sciences.
Her thesis was selected from among seven entries.
“Receiving this award is an incredible honor,” said Gummerman. “I am delighted to have been chosen from among other worthy candidates and feel privileged to be given a distinction connected to Dr. Stanley Horton.”
Gummerman has served as an admissions counselor at EU since 2009. She works with transfer students and students that start at Evangel in the spring semester.
She graduated from Evangel in 2007 as an art and biblical studies double major. She graduated from AGTS on May 5 with a Master of Arts in theological studies.
