SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — More than 160 youth from the local Boys and Girls Clubs will join Evangel students for the University’s third home football game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at John F. Kennedy Stadium.

The game-day festivities were rescheduled from two weeks ago, due to rain.

Brenton Illum, head football coach, led the initiative to introduce the youth from the clubs to Evangel students, athletes and activities.

“Evangel Football has made a commitment to invest in the lives of the kids of Springfield,” Illum said.

“Over the past year we’ve spent a lot of time playing games with these kids, mentoring them and giving them a positive example to follow,” he said. “We are really excited to partner with the Boys and Girls Clubs to bring a large group of them to enjoy our game this Saturday night.”

After the game, the students and youth will head to the end zone to meet the football team and listen to inspirational messages from team members.

“The girls on my floor and I are so excited about this event,” said Shelby Davis, resident assistant. “This is a great opportunity for the youth from the Boys and Girls Club to see that Evangel cares about them and has an interest in their lives.”
