SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Students are invited to participate in the Pregnancy Care Center’s tenth anniversary “Walk 4 Life” and 5K run on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Jordan Valley Park.

Registration for the 5K will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the race at 9 a.m. Registration for the walk will begin at 10 a.m., and it will begin at 11 a.m. The cost to register is $25 each or $60 per family.

Residence halls have encouraged students to take part in helping with the event.

“Spence Hall chose to volunteer with PCC because we believe in the work they are doing, and they are a well-established organization in the community,” said sophomore Kalynn Miller, Spence Hall community service coordinator. The residents of Spence Hall will hand out goodie bags after the race and help cleanup.

“Part of the vision and mission of the leadership in Spence Hall is to help girls grow holistically,” said Annie Bailey, residence director of Spence Hall. “We feel that providing opportunities for them to be involved and make a difference in their community is part of that process.”

Senior Beth Kilsdonk, Burgess Hall president, encourages residents to volunteer.

“The women of Burgess are motivated and compassionate women that seek to encourage others through their actions,” Kilsdonk said. “I saw the Walk 4 life as a perfect way for our young women to make investments into the lives of people their own age.”
