Evangel University to present Rabbit Hole Nov. 15-17

November 12, 2012 | Paul K. Logsdon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University theatre students will present David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole at 7 p.m., Nov. 15-17, in the Barnett Fine Arts Theater on campus.

The production will be directed by senior Brad Mapson as part of his final directing project. Mapson is a senior theatre/social studies education double major from Miller, Mo.

Katelyn Stanford, a freshman theatre/psychology double major from Iota, La., will serve as stage manager.

Synopsis

Rabbit Hole tells the story of Becca and Howie Corbett, a couple recovering from the accidental death of their four-year-old son, Danny. The play begins eight months after Danny’s death as Becca, Howie, Nat (Becca’s mother) and Izzy (Becca’s younger sister) individually and collectively deal with grief. The story also follows Jill, a teenage girl who unwittingly caused Danny’s death, who must now come to terms with her actions. While heartbreaking, the play is also surprisingly witty as the audience journeys with the characters in reflecting on the loss of a loved one.

Rabbit Hole was the 2007 recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

  • Brittany Federici, junior English education major from Milford, Conn., plays Becca.
