Blake Petersen to perform senior voice recital on Friday, Feb. 22

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Blake Petersen, senior music education major, will perform his voice recital at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall at Evangel University.

There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.

Petersen’s performance will include the following pieces:

•  Recitative And God Created Man and aria In Native Worth, from The Creation, by Franz Joseph Haydn

•  Zueignung, by Richard Strauss

•  Ein Jüngling liebt ein Mädchen, from Dichteliebe, by Robert Schumann

•  Ideale & Marechiare, by Francesco Paolo Tosti

•  Aria Then Shall the Righteous Shine Forth, from Elijah, by Felix Mendelssohn

•  Recitative Instant Charmant and aria En fermant les yeux (The Dream Song), from Manon, by Jules Massenet

•  Chanson Triste, by Henri Duparc

•  Mandoline, by Gabriel Fauré

•  Recitative Comfort ye my people and aria Every Valley, from Messiah, by George Frideric Handel

•  When I Have Sung My Songs, by Ernest Charles

•  Forward, Flock of Jesus, from The Celestial Country, by Charles Ives

•  Infant Holy, Infant Lowly (Traditional Polish Carol), translated by Edith M.G. Reed and arranged by McKay Crockett

Accompaniment will be provided by Dr. Linda Ligate, professor of piano at Evangel University. The men of the Evangel University Concert Choir will perform with Petersen.

Petersen is the son of Doyle and Terry Petersen of Firth, Neb.

After graduation, he will be student teaching and completing his TESL certification. He plans to travel to South Korea to teach English and music for one year.
