Evangel University to host benefit concert for Link Arms Campaign

Published on Apr 8, 2013 by Evangel University News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University will host a concert on Friday, April 12, to benefit the Link Arms Campaign. The theme of the event is Be the Link.

This campaign represents the efforts of two area non-profit organizations — Feet That Move and Takin Back. They are joining forces to help benefit the needy in El Salvador by providing shoes and educational opportunities. Those involved with the organizations will travel there in July.

The concert will take place on Friday, April 12, at 8 p.m. on the lawn of Evangel’s campus, in front of Trask and Zimmerman Halls. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the university chapel auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

Feet That Move

Last fall, junior Bobbie McDaniel started a chapter of Feet That Move on Evangel’s campus.

“I met the founder of Feet That Move, Dustin Sandaval, last summer,” said McDaniel. “He shared his vision for the organization, and it truly inspired me.”

Feet That Move has a mission of providing antimicrobial shoes to people in need all over the world.

Takin Back

The other organization partnering for the Link Arms Campaign is Takin Back. They are committed to educating and meeting the physical needs of underprivileged children.

“Bobbie McDaniel has been so captured by the needs presented by Feet That Move that he has changed his major from marketing to our new nonprofit business and social enterprise,” said Bernie Dana, business department chair. “His desire is to prepare his head for business and his heart for service.”

Evangel’s CrossWalk, student senate and Enactus (formerly SIFE) are helping with the event. Students from Missouri State, CBC and area churches also will be participating.
