Published on Apr 15, 2013 by Paul K. Logsdon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Evangel University Auxiliary will be holding a colossal sale Wednesday-Saturday, May 8-11. This sale is held annually to raise funds for scholarships and projects.

Clothing, small appliances, jewelry, books, office items, toys, furniture and other household goods will be among the items for sale in the Mabee Fitness Center, located on the northwest side of the Evangel campus. The sale will last four days:

  • Wednesday, May 8, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 9, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Buy 2 Clothing or Footwear Items, Get One Free !)
  • Friday, May 10, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Half Price Day!)
  • Saturday, May 11, 8 a.m. – noon (Bag Sale Day, Fill a provided bag for $4!)

The Auxiliary has been holding an annual fundraising sale since 1964. In the beginning, only unused items donated by the ladies were sold; however, the Auxiliary decided to enlist the help of students for this annual fundraiser when they witnessed all the saleable items students left behind at the end of the school year. In 1980, the Auxiliary held its first all-college sale.

“Since Evangel’s beginning in 1955, the EU Auxiliary members have been a constant support by volunteering time and talents in order to see the campus flourish,” said James Williams, vice president for institutional advancement. “They have been tireless in the pursuit of funds for campus needs.”

Major donations of the Auxiliary have included the Heritage Room in Riggs Hall, a pipe organ and grand piano for the chapel, the second and third floor lobbies of Trask Hall, uniforms for the EU Marching Band and furnishings for the Riggs Hall prayer chapel.

The Auxiliary’s current project is to provide lighting for the women’s softball field.
