October 7, 2013 | Kim Jeyaraj

The Evangel University Humanities Department will present John Patrick’s Curious Savage, the first fall play for 2013, on Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 10-12.

The play will begin each evening at 7 p.m. and will take place in the Barnett Fine Arts Theater. Tickets are $7 per person, and group tickets (10 or more) are $5 per person. The student rate is $5 per person.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or online.

Senior Bethany Thomas will direct the play as part of her final project. Thomas is a double major in theater/speech education and film from Dalhart, Texas.

IMG_9129Curious Savage is a comedic play about Ethel P. Savage, a woman whose husband recently died and left her approximately ten million dollars. Contrasting the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the avarice and vanity of “respectable” public figures, the play satirizes conventional definitions of sanity while lampooning celebrity culture.

“It’s been wonderful working with everyone,” Thomas said. “It has been an amazing experience watching everyone grow into their roles and having the honor of directing a great show.”
