Evangel University Jazz Collective concert scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –– Members of the Evangel University Jazz Collective, directed by Joel Griffin, will perform their first concert of the year on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

This concert is free, and the public is invited to attend. The Barnett Recital Hall is located on the first floor of the Barnett Fine Arts Center, and visitors can enter through the doors south of the chapel facing Glenstone Avenue.

Program

  • “Doxy,” by Sonny Rollins
  • “Bye, Bye Blackbird,” by Ray Henderson and Mort Dixon
  • “On Green Dolphin Street,” by Bronislaw Kaper
  • “A Night in Tunisia,” by Dizzie Gillespie and Frank Paparelli

“This concert should be a great night of real jazz music,” Griffin said. “Jazz is America’s contribution to the music world, and it’s important to support the arts in any way possible.”

Griffin also directs the jazz studies program at Evangel University.
