Concert Orchestra takes fall break tour to Texas

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Concert Orchestra will travel and perform six concerts in Texas and Louisiana during the university’s fall break, Oct. 19-22.

The 37-member concert orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Larry Dissmore, professor of music. Dissmore has been a professor at EU for 26 years.

The repertoire of the concert orchestra includes classical, sacred and contemporary Christian arrangements for orchestra, as well as various arrangements for voices with orchestral accompaniment.

Since 1995, the concert orchestra has toured the 48 contiguous United States and 11 foreign countries. Among the highlights are four European tours in 1999, 2005, 2009 and 2012.

An accomplished violinist, Dissmore directs Evangel’s orchestral program and teaches violin, viola, and conducting.

In addition, he also serves as the principal second violinist in the Springfield Symphony. For nine years, he was the music director of the Springfield Youth Symphony and led them to their debut performance at Carnegie Hall in 2007.
