Published on Feb 27, 2015 by Paul K. Logsdon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Seven Evangel University students are participating in the Washington Studies Program, Feb. 24 – March 7.

The annual trip provides students with opportunities to see behind the scenes of the federal government and do short-term internships with members of congress or other governmental organizations.

“This trip is a yearly occurrence sponsored by the Department of Social Sciences,” said Dr. Bryan Sanders, department chair and faculty sponsor for the trip.

During the first week of the internship, students will visit governmental & historical sites like the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the State Department, the US Capitol, the Holocaust Memorial museum and numerous other points of interest.

During the second week, students will intern in senatorial, congressional or other federal government offices.

“Each year, our students also have the opportunity to visit with nationally-known organizations like World Vision and Heritage Foundation, as well as hear from staffers and government officials,” he said.

Participating students include the following:

  • Cristian Antal, sophomore government major from Springfield, Mo.
  • Zachary Copeland, senior social studies education major from Battlefield, Mo.
  • Samuel Klepel senior government major from Hacienda Heights, Calif.
