Department of Music presents Drum & Recording Clinic

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University’s Department of Music will be hosting Ryan J. Hurn for a drum and recording clinic on Tuesday, April 14 at 1 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

Hurn will also be giving private lessons to some of the university drum students.

Ryan J. Hurn background

Hurn currently tours and records with three-time Emmy Award-winning vocal group The Texas Tenors. Other credits include performing with legendary crooner Andy Williams, Ann-Margret, and the Les Brown Band of Renown.

Symphonic performances include the Kansas City Symphony, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Fresno, Phoenix, The Desert Symphony in Palm Springs (w/ special guest David Hasselhoff), and many others.

Hurn currently owns and operates Gutbucket Recording, where he records and produces drum/percussion tracks for clients worldwide. He also maintains a presence in the field of music education, teaching privately and in a group setting.

A contributing writer for Drumhead magazine and Neobeat Music Publication, he maintains a drumming-based blog at www.ryanjhurnmusic.blogspot.com, and is currently working on his first book.

Hurn also is a performing artist for Vic Firth Drumsticks and Dallas Drum Custom Snares.

Hurn previously lived in Dallas, TX, working as a freelance musician while studying and graduating Cum Laude from the University of North Texas Jazz Studies program.
