August 25, 2016 | Paul K. Logsdon

Another Evangel University employee has been named to a Hall of Fame, and this time, it has nothing to do with athletics.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Dr. Randy Walls was inducted into the Church Management Hall of Fame, for his work as an educator, by The Church Network (TCN), formerly known as the National Association of Church Business Administration.

“Randy was considered for this award based on having served as the director of the TCN Training Center at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary for the past 14 years,” said Dr. Carol Taylor, president of Evangel. “He earned the honor for his significant contributions to the church management profession.”

TCN is an inter-denominational association of churches and individuals which promotes the highest level of professional competence to those serving in administration in local churches, through educational programs, seminars, workshops and conferences.

The organization features a professional program of certification for church administrative leaders that has been in place since 1966. The designation of Certified Church Administrator (CCA) is given to those who complete the certification program.

Walls is an associate professor of pastoral leadership at AGTS, and he has coordinated the annual seminars at the AGTS Training Center for 14 years. He has also served on the Professional Training and Standards Committee of the national organization, and he has served as a guest speaker at numerous TCN chapter meetings in the Midwest.

The award was presented on July 8 at The Church Network Conference, which was held at the Gaylord Hotel & Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

Walls earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Evangel in 1978, a Master’s of Divinity from AGTS in 1997, and a Doctor of Ministry from AGTS in 2004.

Another EU connection to Hall of Fame

There is one other member of the Church Management Hall of Fame affiliated with Evangel University.

Richard Hammar, attorney, CPA, author and Harvard Law School graduate, is the chief legal counsel for the Assemblies of God. He is also an adjunct professor at Evangel.

Hammar is recognized as the leading expert in the nation on legal and tax issues for clergy and religious organizations. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990.
