Evangel Jazz Orchestra to perform big band classics on Nov. 10

Published on Nov 3, 2016 by Mallory Johnson

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Jazz Orchestra will perform a concert of big band songs on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We’ve had some requests for older big band literature, so this semester we are doing a concert made up primarily of songs recorded before 1950,” said Joel Griffin, assistant professor of music and director of jazz studies.

The Recital Hall is located in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, which is just south of the Robert H. Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.
