Evangel’s Faculty Brass Quintet to perform Thursday, April 13

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Faculty Brass Quintet will present their spring concert in the recital hall of the Barnett Fine Arts Center on Thursday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public. The Fine Arts Center is located south of the Robert H. Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

The group serves as the brass quintet-in-residence at Evangel University.

The group serves as the brass quintet-in-residence at Evangel University. Members are Dwight Davis on tuba, Darren Eddington on trumpet, Eric Jackson on French horn, Matt Moore on trombone and Tim Wootton on trumpet.

Moore is a full-time faculty member at Evangel, while the other members are adjunct instructors.

In addition to playing for university functions, the quintet enjoys performing in the surrounding community through concerts, clinics, workshops and other events.

“We look forward to our annual concert at Evangel,” said Tim Wootton. “This year’s program features members of the quintet as soloists — horn professor Eric Jackson will be featured in the Mozart Horn Concerto No. 4, and tuba professor Dwight Davis will be featured on the DeCosta Tuba Tiger Rag.”

  • “The Incredibles,” by Michael Giacchino

“In addition to well-known compositions by Dukas, Ewald and Chesnokov, the program will include a piece for brass trio and a piece with added percussion. We look forward to sharing this diverse program with our Evangel audience,” said Wootton.
