The preferred media for Rush is fabric, and her work consists of figurative, pictorial and traditional quilting. Several of her quilts will be on display at the exhibit.

Admission is free, and the exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Evangel’s gallery is located in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, just south of the Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

“This exhibition is different from most exhibitions of paintings or sculpture,” said Stan Maples, professor of art at Evangel. “The media used is cloth, and the art itself is made using quilting techniques. The purpose of the show is to bring a different form of making art to the Evangel community.”

Rush holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting, a Bachelor of Art Education from the University of Kansas, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University.

Evangel University is home to the state-of-the-art Lawrence & Alletha Barnett Fine Arts Center, which opened in 2002.

The Art Education degree at Evangel is for creative art students seeking certification to teach art in elementary, junior high, or high school grades. EU’s program meets the Missouri state requirements for certification in Art Education, grades K-12.

Students who desire a well-rounded approach to artistic disciplines may earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art degree. The program requires 33 credits in art and is a good option for a double major. The department also offers a more intensive Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, where students take 58 studio hours. Both combine art history and appreciation courses with practical expertise in various studio areas.
