Church History
Minor in Church History
The Church History minor combines a study of history in art, music and philosophy as they relate to the church and growth of religion in the United States and throughout the world. The program includes a detailed study of the Renaissance, the Protestant and Catholic Reformations and the wars of religion.
A Church History minor consists of at least 18 credits.
Each of Evangel's academic programs is made up of a set of core curriculum, program requirements and electives. The courses listed below are just a small sample of courses that might be taken as a part of this specific program.
| Religion and American Culture | Examination of American culture from early days to the present with special emphasis on the role played by religion, including periods of religious awakening. |
| Early Christian Era | History of the social, political, and religious life of the early centuries of the Christian era (through the fall of Rome) with special emphasis on the developing Christian institutions and culture in Western Europe and the Mediterranean area. |
| Renaissance-Reformation | Study of Europe from A.D. 1300 to 1648, including a detailed study of the Renaissance, the Protestant and Catholic Reformations, and the wars of religion. |
| Church-State Relations | Study of the background, development, problems, and Constitutional aspects of church-state relations in the United States. |
| Seminar in History | Selected areas of intensive study in American or European history. Emphasis on individual research. |

NOTE: A minor is a secondary field of interest that is meant to complement your academic major. While your major is chosen for your intended career choice, your minor may be something you pursue for your personal interest or to augment your major.

General Undergraduate Requirements

| Faith | As a boldly Christian university, all of our students have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. |
| Diploma | Graduation from high school, or having the equivalent of a high school diploma such as the General Education Development (GED) examination. |
| Core Subjects | A minimum of a 2.0 GPA in core college prep classes (English, math, social sciences and science with a lab) |
| Grade Average | A "C" average. However, in some cases, a student with a weak academic record may be considered. To remain at Evangel, however, the student must meet scholastic requirements. |
| Standardized Tests | >Entering freshmen should take the ACT or SAT test. The codes for Evangel are as follows: SAT: 6198. ACT: 2296. |
