The Evangel University Department of Science and Technology is dedicated to the spiritual, academic and social growth of every student. The department’s purpose is to provide an excellent education that is thoroughly integrated with the University’s emphasis on the development of strong Christian character. Students of mathematics learn to exhibit analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

A Mathematics minor consists of 18 credits in mathematics and must include statistics and two semesters of calculus. Other than those requirements, a student has considerable flexibility in course selection, allowing for the customizing of math content to match another major. High school preparation should include two years of algebra, one year of geometry, and one year of precalculus or college algebra/trig. Students not having this high school background can expect to take college algebra/trig during their freshman year at Evangel.

Each of Evangel's academic programs is made up of a set of core curriculum, program requirements and electives. The courses listed below are just a small sample of courses that might be taken as a part of this specific program.

Calculus I	Introduction to the concepts of calculus, including coordinate systems, curve analysis, derivatives and differentials, time-related changes, maxima and minima, integration, and related topics.
Calculus III	Includes rectilinear and curvilinear motion, parametric equations, polar coordinates, improper integrals, partial differentiation, and multiple integrals.
Differential Equations	Equations of the first, second, and higher order; linear equations with constant coefficients and systems of equations; the Laplace Transform, power series, and other standard methods of solution; introduction to difference and partial differential equations; and applications to physics and engineering.
Numerical Analysis	Polynomial approximations, finite differences, numerical differentiation and integration, methods of least squares, and numerical solutions of differential equations.
Probability and Statistics	Descriptive statistics, probability modeling, random variables, sampling distributions, central limit theorem, estimation, and hypothesis testing.

NOTE: A minor is a secondary field of interest that is meant to complement your academic major. While your major is chosen for your intended career choice, your minor may be something you pursue for your personal interest or to augment your major.

A math minor is an excellent complement to majors in biology, chemistry, computer science and others.

General Undergraduate Requirements

The following are general requirements for all students beginning an undergraduate program at Evangel. For more information visit Undergraduate Admissions Requirements.

Faith	As a boldly Christian university, all of our students have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Diploma	Graduation from high school, or having the equivalent of a high school diploma such as the General Education Development (GED) examination.
Core Subjects	A minimum of a 2.0 GPA in core college prep classes (English, math, social sciences and science with a lab)
Grade Average	A "C" average. However, in some cases, a student with a weak academic record may be considered. To remain at Evangel, however, the student must meet scholastic requirements.
Standardized Tests	>Entering freshmen should take the ACT or SAT test. The codes for Evangel are as follows: SAT: 6198. ACT: 2296.
