Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Social Science

Those who study in one or more of the Social Science disciplines may enter the fields of business, economics, industrial and labor relations, international relations, public administration, administration in industrial or service organizations, law, education, government and civil service, and journalism. The Social Science major is ideal if you wish to have a broad scope of study for a graduate program or plan to enter a career in elementary or secondary education.

The Social Science program allows students to gain a broad knowledge of the social sciences, while tailoring the course selection to those that will benefit them most in their chosen career.

Areas of study include anthropology, economics, geography, government, history, public administration, sociology and psychology. The great thing about the Social Science major is that it allows you so many choices with classes. If you are interested in a variety of topics in the social sciences, this major is for you.

Each of Evangel's academic programs is made up of a set of core curriculum, program requirements and electives. The courses listed below are just a small sample of courses that might be taken as a part of this specific program.

Introduction to Anthropology	Emphasizes the basic concepts of anthropology and a survey of its sub-disciplines. Topics include ethnology, social anthropology, culture dynamics, culture and personality, anthropological linguistics, prehistoric man, physical anthropology, and the concept of race.
Introduction to Archaeology	An examination of history, objectives, and methods of archaeological discovery and interpretation; cultural, historical, and functional analysis of technique; and readings in selected primary sources.
International Relations	Fundamentals and principles shaping the foreign policies and diplomatic conduct of nations in the modern world.
American Diplomacy	Diplomatic relations of the United States and the development and reflections of foreign policy.
Church State Relations	Study of the background, development, problems, and Constitutional aspects of church-state relations in the United States.

You must choose a "major field elective" in this program. This is the area you will concentrate on, such as history, government, geography, sociology, etc.

General Undergraduate Requirements

The following are general requirements for all students beginning an undergraduate program at Evangel. For more information visit Undergraduate Admissions Requirements.

Faith	As a boldly Christian university, all of our students have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Diploma	Graduation from high school, or having the equivalent of a high school diploma such as the General Education Development (GED) examination.
Core Subjects	A minimum of a 2.0 GPA in core college prep classes (English, math, social sciences and science with a lab)
Grade Average	A "C" average. However, in some cases, a student with a weak academic record may be considered. To remain at Evangel, however, the student must meet scholastic requirements.
Standardized Tests	>Entering freshmen should take the ACT or SAT test. The codes for Evangel are as follows: SAT: 6198. ACT: 2296.

International Studies

International Studies is for students interested in work overseas or among multiethnic groups in America, providing study and practical experience. Opportunities for internships and studies overseas are available and encouraged for students who are interested in pursuing this major....

Students in our program will explore public history, political history, American religious history, early American history, military history and church history in preparation for graduate school or to enter any of a broad range of history-related careers....
