Lewis Hall: Welcome home

January 15th, 2014 | Shannyn Wong

The two words that best describe Lewis Hall are “welcome home.” If there’s a face behind our front desk, you can guarantee that you will get a welcome home as you walk in the front doors. Lewis is the largest dorm on campus and is home to more than 300 students — including me!

Unlike the other residence halls on campus, we are a dual-gender dorm. The north side of the building houses females while the south side houses the males. There is a real life experience in Lewis where both genders come together, share common areas and learn how to interact with the opposite gender. We have the best of both worlds. Each gender has their own living space and activities, but we love coming together as a family for a movie night, wings and roller skating.

Lewis Lobby

The Lewis Hall lobby is always a fun place to hang out.

There is never a dull moment in our hall. You will see people in the lobbies studying, watching movies or playing ping pong. Each of the eight floors has their own personality that makes them unique. We have varsity athletes, marching band members, actors and everything in-between.

One of the best things about Lewis is that we have two residence directors, Thomas and Bethany Biro, who are married and truly bring the family dynamic to Lewis. The same goes for our resident assistants (RAs). We have four males and four females who resemble the personality of each floor and truly act like brothers and sisters. The family that is created with the staff extends onto the floors and brings each person together. When you walk through the doors you are home and you are safe to be who you are.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the family and tell you, “Welcome home!”
