Bonnie Jenkins has been a full-time professor of music for most of her professional career as a teacher, choral director, ensemble director, and department chair of Fine Arts (Music & Theatre) & Communication at Central Bible College. She currently chairs University Assessment and is director of Vocal Studies at Evangel University. She holds a Ph.D. in Music Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed all vocal performance requirements at the University of Michigan reaching the A.B.D. level. She specializes in classical and contemporary voice production and currently teaches vocal pedagogy, contemporary voice, applied voice, sight singing and ear training, and directs HeartSong, a contemporary worship ensemble of nine singers and eight instrumentalists that travels representing Evangel University. She is also a clinician and adjudicator at various music workshops and competitions. She is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and chairs University Assessment at Evangel University. She is also a consultant in the areas of assessment and accreditation. Bonnie and her husband, Doug, have traveled extensively in sacred concerts in the U.S. and abroad. They directed the music for the national Canadian television program, 100 Huntley Street, and performed daily on the telecast. They have also recorded 8 CDs and have appeared on various national television programs. They have a daughter, Deja, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Amanda.
Along with her involvement in higher education, Bonnie is active in the Springfield, MO community. Elected by the Springfield City Council, she serves on the City Tax Oversight Committee (CTOC) and has chaired this committee for the past two years. CTOC overseas the following: 1/8 Cent Transportation Sales Tax, 1/4 Cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax, Pension Sales Tax, Hotel/Motel Tax, and Level Property Tax. She is a member and president of the Evangel chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society. Bonnie is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing
