Professional Information: Over 30 years ago, I began as a Nursing Assistant at St. John’s and have worked my way up as an Registered Nurse, Director of Nursing in the Burn Unit, Director of Nursing in the Neuro floor and Neurotrauma Intensive Care Units. Currently my role is to work with all the Neurosciences at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. I served as the chair of the Institutional Review Committee for 4 years. The role of the IRC is to oversee all human research at St. John’s. I also serve on the Ethics Clinical Advisory Committee and have been involved in clinical ethics for over 25 years.

Org Memberships: My wife and I are members of One Love Ministry in Honolulu, HI. I have been a member of the Medical Group management Association (MGMA) for 6 years.

I am an adjunct faculty member. My goal is to bring real world experience to the classroom and challenge you to lead.

Job Responsibilities: I am accountable for developing, directing, managing, and marketing the Neuroscience Service Line so that the services function effectively as a compliment to the goals of the The Queen’s Medical Center. I am accountable to a Vice President for total coordination of care components, including collaboration with designated Medical Directors. My work with the Vice President is to lead and implement strategic planning for the service line.

Courses Taught: I have taught Healthcare Ethics, Graduate level Managerial Finace, and Introduction to Business for the AA program.

Started Work: I started work at Evangel in 2008.

Favorite Thing About Work: I have the opportunity to help people. Some people find themselves in terrible situations. I have been blessed with the privilege of helping them ask key questions to survive and occasionally be better than they were before. My role as an educator is to help others avoid the bear traps that are often on the path of success. My personal goal is to help at least person each day.

Originally From: I was born in Monett, Mo but have lived most of my life in Springfield and the surrounding towns.

Personal Information: Father of three adult children; Married over 40 years to an amazing woman that makes me a better man.
