I grew up on the Cherokee Nation in Spavinaw, Oklahoma and lived there until I moved to go to college in Springfield. I have taught at various institutions while living here in Springfield, including Missouri State University and Springfield Public Schools. My husband of 28 years and I have 2 adult sons who are pursuing their own careers in the fields of writing and linguistics. I am passionate about language education, equity in education and society in general, and about indigenous language revitalization. In my free time, I enjoy growing and canning vegetables, spending time in nature, and reading.
