SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—EU Films will premiere its original psychological thriller film, “Anodyne,” with showings at 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, in the Barnett Fine Arts Auditorium.

Admission for students is $1 and general admission is $2. All tickets are sold at the door.

Prior to the feature presentation, short films recently produced by Evangel students will be shown.

Student producer and sophomore Chloe Lester said the film contains “a bit of everything—fighting, suspense, a hint of romance, some laughs. It will mainly be a tense movie.”

Serenity, played by sophomore Alexis Geurink, is a girl with a dark past who seeks therapy from Dr. Tyson, played by John F. Creson, a local Springfield actor.

The plot thickens when Serenity’s new boyfriend, a police detective, starts investigating a series of random crimes in the city. The boyfriend is played by junior Alex Cuilty.

Lester and student director Ricky (RJ) Vickers and have worked out shooting techniques that will aid in the film’s suspense.

“A lot of our angles are going to be subjective, putting the audience in the seat of the characters,” Lester said. “We’ll also use some slow motion and fish-eye lens views.”

“We have all learned so much,” Geurink said. “Each week of shooting seemed to improve on the previous one.”

EU Films has a crew made up of eleven students who are working in various areas of production. Film staff members include the following:
