SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Back by popular demand, Evangel University will host the fourth annual EU’s Got Talent competition as part of Homecoming Week, Oct. 3-6.

The final round of judging will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. in the Evangel chapel auditorium. There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.

This popular talent contest has quickly become one of the most highly-anticipated elements of homecoming week and features the talents of current Evangel students. Finalists receive $500 for first place, $300 for second place, $250 for third place, $200 for fourth place, $100 for fifth place and $75 for sixth and seventh places.

Preliminary rounds will be held on Monday, with seven acts advancing to the final round. These finalists will compete in front of a public audience on Friday night, Oct. 4.

Final winners are selected through a mix of judges’ votes and live text message votes from the audience. Competitors may perform alone or with a group. Past talents have included vocal, instrumental and rap performances and dramatic interpretations, but competitors may enter with almost any talent.

“EU’s Got Talent is a great opportunity for our past and present student body to come together and enjoy our students’ many talents,” said Dane Mohrmann, assistant director of alumni relations. “Although the event has only been offered since 2010, it has become very popular with students and alumni in a very short time.”
