The marching band will perform in the park’s “The Gift of Christmas Holiday Lights Parade” at 7:15 p.m., and the chorale will sing at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

“The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be well attended by the community. It will give us great exposure for the university and will provide a great opportunity for students,” said Tom Matrone, director of the chorale.

This is the first year the chorale has been asked to sing at the lighting ceremony.

In addition to the chorale’s performance at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the marching band also will be a part of the Christmas parade during the day.

“This is a wonderful event for students to participate in, as it allows Evangel to perform in front of 20,000 people,” said Dr. Michael Kolstad, marching band director.

This will be the third year the marching band has performed in the parade.

Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City’s “An Old Time Christmas,” has been profiled as one of the nation’s top holiday celebrations by USA Today, CNN Travel, The Travel Channel, Good Morning America and AOL Travel.

Silver Dollar City has over 4 million lights for “An Old Time Christmas” (that’s 350 miles of lights), plus more than 1,000 decorated Christmas trees.

The 5-story special-effects Christmas tree on the square displays 350,000 energy-saving lights. The Christmas on Main Street show features incredible synchronization. The lights are synchronized down to one-hundredth of a second, and they can have 100 light changes every second or 6,000 light changes per minute.
