SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Amy Crawford, music education major, will perform her senior piano recital on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

The event will take place in the Barnett Recital Hall, located on the first floor of Evangel’s Barnett Fine Arts Center. The entrance to the Fine Arts Center is south of the chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

The recital is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

Selections to be performed as part of the program include the following:

  • Sonata in C-W.A., by Wolfgang Mozart
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, by Johann Sebastian Bach
  • Six Pieces, Op. 118, Ballade, by Johannes Brahms
  • 24 Preludes, Op. 24, (No. 5, 14, 17, 21), by Dmitri Shostakovich
  • Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l’air du soir (Sounds and Perfumes Mingle in the Evening Air), by Claude Debussy
  • Minstrels, by Claude Debussy

In addition to her solo pieces, Crawford will perform two duet pieces (Mozart and Bach) with Dr. Linda Ligate, professor of music and Crawford’s piano teacher of almost five years.

After graduation, Crawford hopes to teach music in a middle school or high school and direct the choir.

“Choir directors often have to play the piano during rehearsals,” Crawford said. “The experience performing will help me become more comfortable being in front of a crowd.”
