Evangel University releases April calendar of events

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University has released its April calendar of events for 2014. Events will include a theatre production, multiple concerts and an original, EU film. All events are open to the public and will be held on EU’s campus.

 

Music concerts

Barnett Recital Hall

  • April 1, 6 p.m. — Lauren Eifert, junior voice, and Rachael Heistand, junior flute, will present a joint recital.
  • April 3, 7:30 p.m. — Chris Latorre will hold a senior trumpet recital.
  • April 8, 7:30 p.m. — The Jazz Orchestra will perform its first concert of the semester. The orchestra is directed            by Joel Griffin.
  • April 11, 7:30 p.m. — Matt Elenbaas will present his worship leadership project.
  • April 14, 6 p.m. — Emily Engebretson will perform her senior flute recital.
  • April 17, 7:30 p.m. — Amber Blaylock will perform her junior clarinet recital.
  • April 22, 6 p.m. — Directed by Joel Griffin, the EU Jazz Combo will perform its spring concert.
  • April 29, 7:30 p.m. — Brooke Slaughter will present her worship leadership project.

Robert H. Spence Chapel

  • April 10, 7:30 p.m. — EU Chorus and Chorale will present a concert with guest composer Philip Stopford.
  • April 15, 7:30 p.m. — The EU Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Larry Dissmore, will perform its spring concert.

Seymour Chapel at AGTS

  • April 17, 7:30 p.m. — Tizmo Mascorro will present his senior worship project.
  • April 21, 7:30 p.m. — Jacob Clark will present his senior worship project. ­­

On the Quad

  • April 22, 6 p.m. — The Symphonic Band will perform its annual lawn concert. The band is directed by Dr. Michael Kolstad, music department chair.

Theatre production

This semester’s EU theatre production, Oliver Twist, will be held in the Barnett Fine Arts Theatre.

  • April 3 – 7:30 p.m.
  • April 4 – 7:30 p.m.
  • April 5 – 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Regular admission tickets are $10. For students, tickets are $7. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are $7 per person. To purchase tickets, visit www.evangel.edu/OliverTwist.

EU Film

This semester’s original film, Defeathered, will premiere in the Barnett Recital Hall.

  • April 25 – 6 and 8 p.m.

Evangel University students can purchase a ticket for $1. For the public, tickets are $2. Tickets are available at the door on the night of the premiere.
