SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Evangel University Department of Social Sciences will host the institution’s 10th annual Student Leadership Forum on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The forum includes four breakout sessions led by various campus leaders and concludes with a question-and-answer session with Dr. Carol Taylor, president of Evangel.

The event, geared especially towards Evangel students currently serving in leadership positions, is open to all Evangel students at no cost.

“Our focus is on how to equip campus leaders, especially early in the semester,” said Dr. Jon Spence, director of undergraduate leadership studies.

“Having on-campus faculty and staff members as the speakers provides students with an excellent network of resources for future conversations,” he said.

Faculty and staff will discuss the following topics:

  • Dr. Jon Spence, director of undergraduate leadership studies – Managing yourself while leading
  • Gina Rentschler, director of community life – How to lead your team / coaching others
  • Christy Rowden, student activities director – Logistics and administration of leadership
  • Sheri Phillips, vice president for student development – How to avoid tunnel vision in leadership

Evangel’s Department of Social Sciences offers a seven-credit Leadership Fellows program and an 18-credit academic minor in leadership. This minor may augment any major offered by the university.
