SPRINGFIELD, MO — EU Films will present the film comedy, Operation: Abacus, on April 24, 2015, at 6 and 8 p.m., in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Operation: Abacus is a student-produced 50-minute comedy. The film is open to the public — tickets will be $1 for students and $2 for general admission.

“The story is about four kids who you’d never think would be friends,” said Rajeev Colton, director. “While being forced to work together on a group project, they decide to take on the school’s financial aid system. Mayhem develops as the four connive and put into action an outlandish plan to get their scholarships back.”

EU Films was granted access to the former-CBC campus for shooting much of the film.

“Come prepared to laugh your face off, and with an open heart to look at the world in a different way,” said Colton.

EU Films — The Educational Process

The story for this film was developed during the fall semester, casting was completed in January, principal photography began in February and work continued through early April.

EU Films is a student media organization within the Communication Department. Each semester, the Film Workshop (a course connected with EU Films) produces a feature film of 45 to 60 minutes in length.

Students at Evangel participate as staff, crew and writers for the films, while executive producer and adviser, Dr. Cameron Pace, supervises the filming.

Films produced at Evangel are shown at the end of each semester, and then uploaded to the website for public viewing at a later date.

Evangel’s cable station, EUTV, also airs the films approximately three to four months after the public viewing.

EU Film productions are photographed using HD digital film-style cameras. Visuals are edited using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Speedgrade software.

More information can be found at or by contacting Dr. Cameron Pace.
