SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems (TVBS) presented the Evangel University Business Department with a $1,500 donation, during a recent visit from EU’s Strategic Management class.

The donation will be used to support an initiative of the Evangel Enactus team to expand recycling in the Evangel academic buildings.

Traci Louvier, TVBS marketing communications manager, said that the donation is a result of a 12-year relationship with Evangel’s business program.

Bernie Dana, chair of the department, has brought students to Tuthill each semester for the past 12 years to learn about Tuthill’s management philosophy and see their Lean enterprise strategies in action.

“Tuthill’s approach to leadership and quality management provides our students with a wonderful example of what an American business should be like,” said Dana.

Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems is a leader in the design and manufacture of high performance, reliable positive displacement blowers, mechanical vacuum pumps, vacuum boosters and engineered systems ready to install and run.

The Enactus recycling project

Enactus, formerly known as Students in Free Enterprise, is a community of students, academic and business leaders, committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world.

“This donation provides the financial resources we needed to partner with Evangel’s physical plant,” said Paige Shaffer, Enactus director of community projects.

“This will help us execute the plan we developed to recycle more than 10,000 aluminum cans, 6,000 plastic bottles, and 37,000 gallons of paper that is now going to the landfill each year.”

“We are very proud to support Evangel and what the university stands for,” said Steve Westfall, TVBS President.  “It is exciting for the Tuthill family to help the EU Enactus team launch this project.”

Since 1969, Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems has been manufacturing at its main facility located in Springfield, Mo.
