Evangel professor presents health care conference keynote in Nebraska

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Bernie Dana, chair of the Department of Business at Evangel University, presented the opening keynote address titled “Be the Voice of Excellence!” at the 2015 LeadingAge Fall Conference in Omaha, Neb., on October 14-15.

LeadingAge Nebraska is a state association of non-profit organizations whose fundamental purpose is to improve the care and services provided to older Nebraskans.

LeadingAge Nebraska is affiliated nationally with LeadingAge, an association of 6,000 not-for-profit organizations providing health care and housing services to the nations seniors.

Dana also presented two professional development seminars at the conference.

One seminar, titled “Flexing Your Own Communication Style,” was part of the general education program. Dana’s other seminar was a mentoring session for leaders involved in the LeadingAge Leadership Academy.

Approximately 125 leaders and managers from non-profit long term care facilities and related agencies attended the conference.

Dana, Bernie headshot F'15Dana is nationally recognized for his expertise in the areas of leadership and quality improvement in long-term care and senior housing. He was an executive and consultant in the long-term care profession for 28 years before joining the Evangel faculty in 2001.

Since joining Evangel, he has continued his involvement as an author, seminar presenter, and as chair in 2008 through 2010 of the Board of Overseers for the National Quality Award Program sponsored by the American Health Care Association.

​Evangel’s Department of Business offers majors for traditional students in accounting, business education, finance, management, marketing, and nonprofit business & social enterprise.

The business programs also include a seated and online adult studies programs to earn a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master of Organizational Leadership.
