SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University will host high school students from across the country for EU24, a special two-day visit, on Feb. 11-12, 2016. The event will feature a concert on Friday evening that is free and open to the community.

The 7 p.m. concert will feature HeartSong, Evangel’s touring ensemble made up of 12 singers and eight instrumentalists.

Special guest hosts for the evening will be an EU alumni couple — KWTV (Oklahoma City) News Anchor Justin Dougherty and 2011 Miss Missouri Sydney Friar Dougherty.

Justin, a 2012 broadcasting graduate, got his career start with the local CBS-affiliate KOLR-10 news, while he was still a student at Evangel. Sydney is a 2011 graduate with a degree in advertising and public relations.

“We are excited to return to campus and share some of our adventures with prospective students,” said Sydney, who currently works as the creative manager for Bass Pro Shops’ Big Cedar Lodge.

“For us, Evangel is more than an alma mater. It is where we built a faith-based foundation that transformed our lives,” said Sydney. “We both agree that we would not be where we are or who we are today without EU.”

Prospective students will also enjoy two nights in the residence halls with students hosts, tour the campus, visit classes, attend chapel and meet with professors, admissions counselors and current Evangel students.

“EU24 is an immersion experience for prospective students and their families,” said Ana Solano, associate director of undergraduate admissions.

“For an undergraduate student, there’s no better way to get a feel for campus life at Evangel than by coming for a visit,” said Solano. “We look forward to answering their questions and helping them navigate the admissions process.”
