Published on Mar 18, 2016 by Mallory Johnson

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Joshua Parrish will perform his senior percussion recital on Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The recital will be divided, with the first half featuring more classical or traditional percussion, while the second half will be exclusively jazz.

“I seek to be as well rounded as possible in my field,” said Parrish. “My recital will reflect this, as it will include classical percussion on marimba, timpani, rudimental percussion and jazz.”

Parrish is a percussion student of Robin Hendry. Evangel graduate Desiree Bonitz and current student John Osborne will accompany him on piano and bass in a jazz trio.

A native of Kimberling City, Mo., Parish is the son of Robert and Tammy Parrish. He is earning a major in music education and a minor in special education and plans to pursue a master’s degree in percussion performance upon graduation next year.
