Evangel University presents spring drama production: “The Crucible”

Published on Apr 11, 2016 by Evangel University News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University Theatre will present Arthur Miller’s Tony-Award winning play, The Crucible, on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16 at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a matinee on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Evangel’s theatre is in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, located just south of the Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

The play is based upon the history of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 in Massachusetts. It is a riveting examination of the ways in which superstition and corruption in a Puritan community led 19 innocent people to the gallows before the frenzy of witch-hunting dissipated.

The Crucible is directed by Glenda Mohr, associate professor of humanities.

Reserved-seat tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students, and they may be purchased online at http://web.evangel.edu/apps/public/ticketsales or at the door. Groups of 10 or more can purchase their tickets at $7 each.

The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. for evening shows and at 1:30 p.m. for the April 16 matinee.

Questions about seating and tickets should be directed to the Humanities Department Office at 417-865-2815, ext. 8640.
