The event is open to the public. Admission is either a non-perishable food item or a cash donation to benefit the Salvation Army.

More than 200 musicians will be performing in a variety of ensembles including the Evangel University Chorus, University Chorale, Men’s Vocal Ensemble, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, HeartSong, University Orchestra, and the ever-popular Jazz Orchestra.

Special guests this year will be the Springfield Boys Choir.

The concert will include a carol sing with the audience. The combined choirs and orchestra will conclude with the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah, and HeartSong will be doing their arrangement of Go Tell It on the Mountain, entitled, “Go Tell It.”

“The Evangel Christmas Concert is more than a great night of music,” said Tom Matrone, chair of the Department of Music. “It’s about giving back to the community and honoring University traditions.”

The Salvation Army’s nationwide campaign enables them to provide food, toys and clothing to more than six million people during the Christmas season.

Live streaming of the concert will be available online at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/16105363 .
