Evangel University named one of 10 Best Colleges in Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, MO —Evangel University has been recognized as one of the top 10 “Best Colleges in Missouri” by BestColleges.com, based on academic quality, affordability and student experience.
BestColleges.com is a popular on-line site that uses proprietary research to produce user-friendly guides and hundreds of unique college rankings.
“Whether seeking a small private liberal arts college or a large public research institution, the ‘Show Me State’ offers a wide range of choices when it comes to schools granting baccalaureate degrees,” the announcement stated.
Evangel officials welcomed the good report.
“In addition to our respected academic programs, the accompanying article spotlighted Evangel’s active campus life and the fact that our students have ‘ready access to faculty,’” said Dr. Michael McCorcle, vice president for academic affairs.
Evangel was ranked #10 in Missouri, out of more than 230 institutions state-wide.
According to the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the state is home to 13 public universities, 25 private universities, 14 public two-year colleges, 10 specialized/technical colleges, 17 theological institutions and more than 150 proprietary and private career schools.
Two other Southwest Missouri colleges were ranked as “Best Colleges in Missouri” — College of the Ozarks is #2 and Missouri State University is #14. The elite Washington University in St. Louis was ranked #1.
In addition to the state rankings, BestColleges.com publishes a wide variety of national lists as varied as “America’s Best Colleges,” where MIT is #1; “Highest Research & Development Funding,” where Johns Hopkins is #1; and “Greenest Universities,” where Colorado State–Fort Collins is #1.

Online education — Evangel ranked #7
Online education is another desirable option for many students, and BestColleges.com has ranked Evangel University as the #7 on its “Best Online Colleges in Missouri” list for 2017.
“EU provides a robust support system to its online adult learners, matching students in its adult studies programs with advisors who’ll help develop individualized plans for degree completion and take into account each student’s work and family obligations,” said BestColleges.com.

Three other Southwest Missouri colleges were ranked on the published list of 25 “Best Online Colleges in Missouri” — Missouri State is #5, Drury is #20 and Missouri Southern State is #21.
According to BestColleges.com, of the nearly 450,000 students enrolled at Missouri institutions, just under 55,000 (12.2%) are exclusively enrolled in online learning courses.
