Alumni Piano Recital with Nathanael Filippelli

The Evangel University Music Department will host an Alumni Piano Recital featuring Nathanael Filippelli ’04 on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Recital Hall is located in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, which is just south of Evangel’s Spence Chapel, facing North Glenstone Ave.

About Filippelli

Nathanael Filippelli is currently a candidate for a D.M.A. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy (ABD) at the University of Iowa, with a minor in music theory pedagogy and a secondary area of choral conducting.

He is a piano teaching assistant at the University of Iowa and an instructor at Marion Music Academy.

Filippelli earned his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Evangel University, where he studied with Dr. Linda Ligate and Dr. Greg Morris. Upon graduation in 2004, he was honored with both the Outstanding Senior Musician award and the Academic Achievement in Music Performance award.

He earned his master’s degree in piano performance from Missouri State University, where he studied with Dr. Peter Collins. His education history also includes studying with concert pianist Ksenia Nosikova.

His international experience includes being a featured soloist in the Young Artist Concert Series at the 2012 Amalfi Music Festival in Maiori, Italy, and a finalist in Italy’s 2016 Semper International Music Competition.

As a member of the Ozarka Piano Trio with cellist Steuart Pincombe and violinist Jody Killingsworth, he has performed chamber music recitals in Atlanta, St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, and other cities.

Filippelli currently resides in Williamsburg, Iowa, with his wife, Ashley.
