Published on May 2, 2017 by Paul K. Logsdon

OVERLAND PARK, KS — Evangel University has earned international accreditation for its business programs through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Representatives of Evangel’s Department of Business will be recognized and will receive the Certificate of Accreditation at the ACBSP Conference 2017 in Anaheim, Calif., on June 26.

“This three-year journey to ACBSP accreditation has helped us enhance our continuous improvement process,” said Dr. Duane Praschan, chair of the department.

“The accreditation is also solid recognition that Evangel is committed to ensuring our graduates will have the skills desired by employers in the ever-changing marketplace,” he said.

The accreditation includes Evangel’s Bachelor of Business Administration and Associate of Business Administration degrees for traditional students, the Bachelor of Science in Management for adult degree completion students, and the Master of Organizational Leadership for graduate students.

Established in 1988, ACBSP offers specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs.

ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs and degrees offered by Evangel University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“Evangel University has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said Dr. Steve Parscale, ACBSP chief accreditation officer.

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

Business programs have been a part of Evangel’s degree programs since it was founded in 1955.

“The number of students enrolled in the business programs makes it one of the largest on our campus, and we are delighted to receive this confirmation of the quality of these programs,” said Dr. Michael McCorcle, provost of Evangel University.

Evangel’s Business Department

The Department of Business at Evangel has nearly 200 undergraduate students earning their Bachelor of Business Administration degrees with comprehensive majors in management, marketing, accounting, finance, nonprofit business & social enterprise, or business education.

The department also includes 120 adult students in online and seated programs earning Bachelor of Science in Management or Master of Organizational Leadership degrees.

“Core to an Evangel business degree is developing a Christian worldview to examine complex situations with integrity and character,” said Praschan.
