Established in 1977, Evangel University football quickly rose to prominence in the NAIA and Heart of America Athletic Conference. Since 1990, Evangel football carries the second highest winning percentage of any collegiate football program at any level in the state of Missouri. The Crusaders have won five HAAC Championships (1993, 1996, 1997, 2001, and 2005) and advanced to the NAIA National Championship Series seven times.
Four Crusaders have advanced to the NFL, more than 100 have been named NAIA All-Americans, more than 150 have been all-conference performers, and nearly 50 have received national academic honors.
