June 5, 2013 | Paul Logsdon

Evangel University students will benefit from a $25,000-scholarship recently provided by THE POTT FOUNDATION to the Missouri Colleges Fund.

The Pott Foundation, based in the St. Louis area, is a non-profit organization supporting children, education and health & human service organizations in Missouri.

The funds will underwrite need-based scholarships for students attending MCF member schools.

“Evangel University is grateful for this generous gift from The Pott Foundation,” said Robert H. Spence, president of Evangel. “Their leaders clearly recognize the importance of education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri’s economy.”

Evangel is one of 17 private liberal arts colleges and universities in Missouri that will benefit from these donations to the Missouri Colleges Fund.

MCF member schools are independent baccalaureate degree-granting liberal arts and comprehensive colleges and universities in the state of Missouri. Their income is derived primarily from private sources.

Missouri Colleges Fund member schools include Avila University, Kansas City; Central Methodist University, Fayette; Columbia College, Columbia; Culver-Stockton College, Canton; Drury University, Springfield; Evangel University, Springfield; Fontbonne University, St. Louis; Hannibal – LaGrange University, Hannibal; Lindenwood University, St. Charles; Maryville University, St. Louis; Missouri Baptist University, St. Louis; Park University, Parkville; Rockhurst University, Kansas City; Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar; Westminster College, Fulton; William Jewell College, Liberty and William Woods University, Fulton.

Evangel is a private, Christian university of arts, sciences and professions that offers more than 100 undergraduate academic programs and 9 master’s programs. Evangel has nearly 2,100 students enrolled from all 50 states and abroad.

The MCF was incorporated in 1952 as a partnership of private enterprise and the member independent colleges and universities in the Show-Me State. The Fund is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt corporation; therefore, all contributions to the Fund are tax-deductible up to the limits prescribed by the law.
