SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS), the embedded seminary of Evangel University, honored Dr. Greg and Sandra Mundis with a Pillar of Faith at a celebratory service at AGTS on Monday, June 24.

Pillars of Faith are given to individuals who have served the Church and dedicated their lives to significant, full-time ministry, missions, and pastoral training. Honorees are nominated by Evangel’s president and approved by the Seminary Board of Advisors. Included with the recognition is an endowment established at the seminary in the recipients’ honor.

Previous honorees include evangelist Marilyn Hickey, former Assemblies of God (AG) general superintendent Dr. George O. Wood, and Pentecostal scholar Dr. Stanley M. Horton.

Dr. Greg and Sandra Mundis served as Assemblies of God world missionaries (AGWM) to Austria beginning in 1980, where they established the international church known as Vienna Christian Center. While in Austria, they pioneered a thriving television ministry and were active church planters and trainers.

Greg was named AGWM area director for Central Europe in 1991. When AGWM made the Europe region a distinct entity in 1998, he was named its first regional director. He was elected AGWM executive director in 2011, a role he served in until 2023. By the end of his tenure, 2,641 missionaries and associates were serving in over 150 nations.

“The Mundis’ careers of leadership as missionaries and ministry leaders and Dr. Mundis’ service as executive director of AGWM has been exemplary,” said Dr. Wade Mumm, AGTS vice president. “Such leadership is worthy of honor and through the Pillar award, AGTS hopes to remind future generations of the Mundis’ tremendous contributions to our Fellowship.”

Members of Mundis’ family, AGTS faculty and staff, and representatives from the AG national office and AGWM were on hand to celebrate as they received their Pillar of Faith award.
