SPRINGFIELD, MO — International humanitarian relief organization Convoy of Hope and Evangel University have announced a partnership for Convoy’s annual 5K fun run/walk.

The event will be held on Friday evening, Oct. 2, 2015, starting at 7 p.m. and is open to the community.

The Convoy of Hope “Lights Run” 5K presented by Evangel University is a fun run for families and will coincide with EU’s homecoming celebration this year.

The race costs $15 for students and $25 for adults. All funds go toward benefiting Convoy’s mission.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, just south of the Spence Chapel. Evangel University is located at 1111 N. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, Mo.

The race will begin at 7 p.m. directly in front of Spence Chapel and will route through the surrounding neighborhoods. Glow gear will be provided to all participants.

Immediately following the race there will be an “after party” with a live DJ, plus free food and giveaways from sponsors. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women 5K competitors.

“Evangel University is very excited to sponsor Convoy of Hope’s 5K this year,” said Micah Billman, annual fund and young alumni relations manager at Evangel.

“Convoy has a wonderful mission, and they are doing great things all around the world. We could not be more excited to partner with them to raise awareness of their good work,” he said.
