Evangel announces new food service partnership with Sodexo

Published on Mar 8, 2023 by Erin Hedlun

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University announces a partnership with Sodexo, a food and facilities management company, to provide dining services at the university. Sodexo dining programs will begin this summer. Current dining services staff will be offered first priority for employment with Sodexo.

Sodexo’s on-site team will consist of a general manager, an executive chef, and a catering manager, with the support of a regional registered dietitian. Working alongside a group of chefs and other food service workers, the team will deliver authentic, global flavors, comfort foods, and a world-class program for students with allergies and dietary restrictions.

“Our partnership with Sodexo will provide the Evangel community with immediate, impactful upgrades to our dining options, including a new portfolio of retail concepts,” said Dr. Mike Rakes, Evangel’s president. “This is yet another step we are taking to elevate the student experience here at EU!”

Updated offerings

Sodexo will rebrand and invigorate Evangel’s dining hall with new station designs and menus, working with students and leadership to innovate for the future. Potential options include Simple Servings, food free of the nine most common allergens; Slices and Twists pizza and pasta; Savory Custom Kitchen, featuring from-scratch comfort food; Sizzle Grill and Griddle; Sprouts, a vegan and vegetarian option; and several others.

The Joust, Evangel’s casual dining space, will feature Sodexo’s Created with Love kitchen concepts, which offers over 60 different menus. The flexibility will enable the dining team to incorporate new, trendy food options to satisfy many cravings, including recipes from Virtual Dining Concept partners like Mr. Beast Burger, Mariah’s Cookies, and TikTok kitchen.

The Barracks, Evangel’s on campus coffee cafe, will remain a Starbucks We Proudly Serve shop with expanded grab-and-go options via Sodexo’s Simply to Go program. Simply to Go provides students, faculty, and staff with healthier meals when time is tight, including sandwiches, subs, salads, and more.

Evangel community members may place mobile orders, view menus, nutrition information, and meal plan accounts through Everyday, Sodexo’s mobile app, or SodexoMyWay.com, Sodexo’s user-friendly site. Parents of EU students can also use SodexoMyWay to see menu options and send students special orders.

Additional enhancements will continue throughout next academic year, including a chef on-call, available for after hours meal purchases, and 24/7 market kiosks for healthy on- the-go meal options.
