SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Six members of the Evangel University forensics team recently competed in the International Forensic Association Speech and Debate Tournament held in Rome, Italy.
More than 17 colleges and universities from across the United States were represented at the competition. The largest event was Prose, with 47 students competing.
Evangel junior Christine Temple placed third in the Commedia Dell’arte event, which required her to perform an excerpt from a classic commedia dell’arte style play. This was an outdoor event that was held on the streets of Rome.
“The trip was amazing,” said Temple. “Learning about Italian culture and seeing famous pieces of artwork and architecture, such as Michelangelo’s David and the Vatican, is something I will never forget. Italy is more beautiful than I imagined, and the food was phenomenal.”
Evangel student participants included the following:
- Jonathan Gracza, sophomore journalism major from Budapest, Hungary
- Rachel Land, junior psychology major from Arlington, Texas
- Christopher Orr, senior biblical studies and film double major from Fair Grove, Mo.
- Lindsay Paur, senior pre-engineering major from Staunton, Ill.
